Grubbs, Ben (G)
The New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms on a five-year contract with Pro Bowl guard Ben Grubbs, hoping he can fill the void left when All-Pro left guard Carl Nicks left in free agency for NFC South Division rival Tampa Bay.
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, who announced the deal Thursday, says Grubbs' experience and past success with the Baltimore Ravens will make him an "outstanding fit" on New Orleans' offense line. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound Grubbs, a former Auburn standout, was selected by Baltimore in the first round of the 2007 draft and became a starter at right guard during his rookie season.

Colston, Marques (WR)
Colston's agent says his client has agreed to new free agent contract with New Orleans.
Joel Segal said Tuesday Colston's new deal is for five years but did disclose the financial terms of the contract. The 6-foot-4 Colston was a seventh-round draft pick of the Saints in 2006 and quickly emerged as a favorite target for quarterback Drew Brees. Colston has amassed more than 1,000 yards receiving in five of his six seasons in New Orleans.

Brees, Drew (QB)
The New Orleans Saints have placed the franchise tag on Drew Brees - giving them exclusive negotiating rights with their Pro Bowl quarterback for the next year. Brees has been involved in lengthy contract talks with the Saints and, without the tag, could have negotiated with other teams as a free agent. Team spokesman Greg Bensel said Saturday that the Saints were officially notifying the NFL of the designation.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune and ESPN.com previously reported that Brees would get the tag. In January, Brees said he would be "beyond stunned" if he and the Saints are unable to agree on a contract extension during this offseason. In 2011, Brees set NFL records with 468 completions, 5,476 yards passing and a completion percentage of 71.2. His prolific passing numbers helped the Saints set a new NFL high for total offensive yards in a season with 7,474.

Brees, Drew (QB)
Brees' record-setting season has earned the New Orleans quarterback the 2011 Associated Press NFL Offensive Player of the Year award.
Brees shattered Dan Marino's 27-year-old mark by passing for 5,476 yards, and his 468 completions broke Peyton Manning's 2010 record of 450. Brees finished the season completing 71.6 percent of his passes, breaking his own 2009 NFL record (70.6). He also surpassed 300 yards passing for seven straight games and 13 times during the season, both beating league marks he already held.

Brees, Drew (QB)
Brees says he would be "beyond stunned" if he and the New Orleans Saints don't come to an agreement on a contract extension during this offseason, echoing comments by coach Sean Payton this week.
Brees says his focus is keeping the team together. He doesn't believe his next deal will prevent the Saints from bidding for some other key members of their record-setting offense who will become free agents. In 2011, Brees set NFL single-season records with 468 completions, 5,476 yards passing and a completion percentage of 71.2 in a stunning display of aerial prowess.

Ivory, Christopher (RB)
Ivory carried nine times for 23 yards in Saturday's 36-32 postseason loss at San Francisco.
The Saints don't emphasize the run game and it's understandable when you have a superstar like Drew Brees as the signal-caller.

Sproles, Darren (RB)
Sproles caught 15 passes for 119 yards and one TD in Saturday's 36-32 postseason loss at San Francisco.
Sproles showcased his dual-threat ability with only three carries for three yards on the ground, however. He made up for it through the air by hooking up with Drew Brees.

Colston, Marques (WR)
Colston caught nine passes for 136 yards and one TD in Saturday's 36-32 postseason loss at San Francisco.
Colston could be a top-20 fantasy pick or higher in the 2012 draft so fantasy players should be poised to nab him early and reap some big rewards.
