Smith, DeAngelo (CB)

Posted April 16, 2012 @ 5:03 p.m.
The Jets signed Smith, a free agent.
Smith, a fifth-round selection of Dallas in 2009, has also spent time with Cleveland, Chicago and Detroit. He has 16 tackles in seven NFL games, all with the Lions.

Richardson, Jay (DE)

Posted April 16, 2012 @ 5:03 p.m.
The Jets signed Richardson, a free agent.
Richardson was a fifth-round pick of Oakland in 2007, and played three seasons with the Raiders. He signed with Seattle in 2010 after being waived by Oakland, and played in seven games with the Seahawks. Richardson, who has seven sacks in 55 games, didn't play in the NFL last season.

Maybin, Aaron (LB)

Posted April 16, 2012 @ 5:02 p.m.
Maybin signed his one-year restricted free agent tender on Monday, as expected, and returned to the team after a breakout season.
The tender was worth $1.26 million, his original first-round draft level. Maybin was a first-round pick of Buffalo, No. 11 overall, in 2009 but struggled to get playing time in two disappointing seasons with the Bills. He was waived last August and signed by the Jets, but cut after training camp ended. New York re-signed him in late-September and Maybin ended up leading the Jets with the first six sacks of his NFL career.

Tebow, Tim (QB)

Posted March 30, 2012 @ 7:06 p.m.
Tebow says he is "not sure" if he'll ever be a starting quarterback again, and that thought doesn't concern him right now.
The New York Jets' new backup quarterback tells 1050 ESPN Radio on Friday that his only plan is to help his new team win games and "be the best quarterback, best teammate, best football player I can be and just be someone that adds something to that locker room."

Tebow, Tim (QB)

Posted March 28, 2012 @ 4:23 p.m.
The frenzy over New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow has reached shoemakers Nike and Reebok. Nike Inc. claims in a lawsuit that Reebok is using Tebow's name on Jets-related apparel without permission. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in federal court in Manhattan.
The lawsuit says Reebok International introduced new products with Tebow's name after the quarterback was traded from the Denver Broncos to the Jets. It seeks unspecified damages. The claims include misappropriation of publicity rights, interference with business relationships and unjust enrichment.

McKnight, Scotty (WR)

Posted March 27, 2012 @ 2:55 p.m.
The New York Jets re-signed McKnight on Tuesday.
A childhood friend of quarterback Mark Sanchez, McKnight was originally drafted by the Jets in the seventh round last season. He did not make the active roster, and suffered a torn ACL as a member of the practice squad. He was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 1. At Colorado, he played in 49 games, and left as the Buffaloes' career leader with 215 receptions and 22 receiving touchdowns.

Tebow, Tim (QB)

Posted March 25, 2012 @ 5:38 p.m.
Tebow already has made it to Broadway, even if the New York Jets expect him to be a supporting player this season. The quarterback attended the musical "Wicked," but the real show comes Monday: his introductory news conference with the Jets.
Tebowmania hit the Big Apple even before the ink was dry on the trade last week that brought him to New York as a backup to shaky incumbent Mark Sanchez. The famed Carnegie Deli in Manhattan is naming a sandwich after Tebow, on white bread, naturally. He's in demand for the talk shows, and maybe David Letterman can arrange for Tebow and Sanchez to toss a ball to each other outside the studio on 53rd Street.

Tebow, Tim (QB)

Posted March 21, 2012 @ 12:17 p.m.
ESPN is reporting that the deal to send Tim Tebow to the New York Jets from the Denver Broncos has hit a snag.
Citing anonymous sources, ESPN says Wednesday that provisions in the quarterback's contract are causing complications in the completion of the trade. ESPN says Tebow's contract has $5 million worth of "recapture language," which means the Jets would have to pay back some money to the Broncos. The hang-up comes just a few hours after the Jets announced they had agreed in principle to acquire the polarizing quarterback.

Tebow, Tim (QB)

Posted March 20, 2012 @ 3:52 p.m.
Broncos executive John Elway says Tim Tebow was disappointed but very positive when they talked about Denver's plans to sign Peyton Manning. Speaking Tuesday at a news conference to introduce the 11-time Pro Bowl selection as the newest Bronco, Elway said Tebow's response was typical of the exciting young quarterback.
Elway said Tebow was "very positive. He's like, 'We're talking about Peyton Manning. I understand what you're doing.'" Tebow turned Denver around last season but misfired on passes and was often more effective as a runner. Manning is one the best QBs in league history and won a Super Bowl in 2007. Elway didn't say exactly what will happen to Tebow but, "It would be our goal for us to get (Tebow) in the best situation possible."

Landry, LaRon (S)

Posted March 20, 2012 @ 2:15 p.m.
Landry says he signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets because he wants to prove he is healthy.
The former Redskins safety finished each of the last two seasons on injured reserve and played in just 17 games. He damaged his left Achilles tendon in 2010. Last season, he struggled with a strained hamstring, a pulled groin and again with an Achilles problem. Landry opted not to have surgery on the Achilles tendon injuries because "it wasn't really an Achilles issue."
