Reports: Jets on hook for more of Holmes' contract
The Jets are officially on the hook for a chunk of WR Santonio Holmes' contract, making it unlikely the team will part ways with him.

Holmes, Santonio (WR)
It appears Santonio Holmes is sticking around - just as the New York Jets said he would. By remaining on the roster through the second day of the NFL's waiver period Tuesday, the talented but troublesome wide receiver will get $15.25 million in guaranteed money over the next two seasons. A clause in Holmes' contract, signed last offseason, kicked in Wednesday morning.
Holmes' future appeared murky with the Jets after a tumultuous season in which he feuded with quarterback Mark Sanchez and offensive linemen, and was benched during the season finale in Miami for arguing in the huddle. Still, owner Woody Johnson, general manager Mike Tannenbaum and coach Rex Ryan all insisted that Holmes would remain with the team despite the squabbles.

Turner, Patrick (WR)
A person familiar with the deal says the New York Jets have re-signed wide receiver Patrick Turner to a one-year contract.
The deal, agreed upon about 10 days ago, is worth $875,000 with a $250,000 signing bonus. The 24-year-old Turner was scheduled to become a restricted free agent next month. A former college teammate of quarterback Mark Sanchez at Southern California, Turner had eight catches for 96 yards and a touchdown last season. The Jets claimed him off waivers in 2010 from Miami, where Turner played under newly hired New York offensive coordinator Tony Sparano.

Sanchez, Mark (QB)
Jets coach Rex Ryan says embattled quarterback Mark Sanchez has the support of the organization, and he vows to clean up a team that was in turmoil late in the season.
With some teammates and members of the organization anonymously questioning Sanchez's work ethic and leadership abilities in a Daily News story this week, Ryan came to his quarterback's defense. "If it's not all of them, the majority of our football team has a great deal of confidence in Mark Sanchez," Ryan said on a conference call Friday introducing new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano.

Tomlinson, LaDainian (RB)
Tomlinson has told a San Diego radio station that he is considering calling an end to his 11-year NFL career.
The 32-year-old Tomlinson told the Scott & BR Show on XX1090AM on Friday that he is "contemplating retirement." The running back said he had told his agent and coaches of his position, saying that chasing a championship would be his main motivation to return. Tomlinson, a likely Hall of Famer, finished the season with 280 yards rushing and 449 yards receiving and three touchdowns in his second season with the Jets.

Scott, Bart (LB)
The Jets have fined Scott $10,000 for an obscene gesture he made toward a photographer in the team's locker room Monday. After gathering items from his locker at the team's facility in Florham Park, N.J., Scott walked past reporters and then turned, stuck out his middle finger and used an expletive while telling a photographer to get the camera out of his face.
The team says in a statement announcing the fine Thursday that Scott's "actions were inappropriate and unacceptable." It is uncertain whether Scott, who's owed $4 million in guarantees next season, will be back with the Jets next season.
