AFC South players in the crosshairs
Here's a look at the players on each AFC South team who will be most heavily scrutinized, including Titans RB Chris Johnson.
PLAYER NEWS
Ross, Aaron (CB)
The Jacksonville Jaguars have given cornerback Aaron Ross permission to miss part of training camp to attend the Olympics and watch his wife run. Ross' wife, U.S. runner Sanya Richards-Ross, won gold in the 1,600-meter relay in 2004 and 2008 and captured bronze in the 400 meters in Beijing. But she is seeking her first individual Olympic gold medal.
Ross, who started 41 games over the last five seasons for the New York Giants, asked Jaguars general manager Gene Smith and new coach Mike Mularkey about attending the London Games before he signed with the franchise last month. Ross says their decision "speaks volumes about what they're trying to preach here."

Evans, Lee (WR)
Evans agreed to a one-year deal with the Jaguars.
Evans spent seven seasons with the Buffalo Bills (2004-10) and was with the Baltimore Ravens last year. Evans has 381 receptions for 6,008 yards and 43 touchdowns in 118 games. Evans was traded to the Ravens last August and appeared in nine games with two starts. He missed seven games with an ankle injury. He caught four passes for 69 yards in two postseason games.

Knighton, Terrance (DT)
Knighton will miss at least the next three months of the team's offseason program following eye surgery.
The Jaguars are hopeful the 340-pound run-stopper will make a full recovery, but general manager Gene Smith said Monday he doesn't know how quickly Knighton, who has a history of weight issues, can get healthy. If the Jaguars have any concerns, next week's draft is the perfect place to get some insurance. Knighton had surgery April 8, hours after being hit with a bottle at a Jacksonville nightclub.

Ross, Aaron (CB)
Ross has agreed to a three-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, giving the team added depth in the secondary.
Ross is in Jacksonville and is scheduled to sign his contract Wednesday. The deal could be worth up to $15.3 million, an investment that indicates Ross will compete with veteran Rashean Mathis for a starting spot.

Henne, Chad (QB)
Even with former Miami Dolphins starter Chad Henne in the mix, the Jacksonville Jaguars don't anticipate a quarterback competition. Henne signed a two-year contract worth nearly $6.75 million with the Jaguars on Wednesday night, giving the team a capable backup to Blaine Gabbert.
The Jaguars were looking to upgrade the No. 2 spot after Luke McCown failed to impress general manager Gene Smith in four games and two starts last season. Nonetheless, new coach Mike Mularkey created a minor buzz Thursday when he spoke about Henne's role. Mularkey says Henne is "coming in as a backup, competing for a starting job." He adds that Henne "knows his role" and that he has assured Gabbert that he's the team's starter.
